From learning spaces to a shared stage
On September 18, 2022, the Gwanak Youth Culture Zone showcase took place on the Byeolbitnaerincheon riverside stage. Participants from Adagio Music's instrumental program and ARTPIE's dance program wove music and choreography into a single scene.
The initiative used 15 local spaces as hubs where young people could learn art and connect with one another. Time spent developing a hobby expanded into the experience of meeting an audience through a public showcase.
The connections made by Chumi! Chwimi!
ARTPIE's Chumi! Chwimi! program brought dance-curious residents together with professional artists. Participants learned more than technique: they experienced moving together and completing a performance as a group.
Genres as different as classical instruments and street dance can become a new local cultural language when connected through people and place. This stage linked education, community and performance in one continuous process.
